  • Cyber Monday 2025 brought in $14.25 billion in U.S. online spending, up 7.1% year over year, according to Adobe1.
  • From 2023 to 2025 the day's online spending rose 14.9%, from $12.4 billion to $14.25 billion, a change calculated from Adobe's figures.
  • The National Retail Federation (NRF) counted 75.9 million online shoppers on Cyber Monday 2025, up from 64.4 million in 20244.
  • Mobile devices drove 57.5% of Cyber Monday online sales in 2025, compared with 41.4% in 2020 (Adobe).
  • In the U.S., Cyber Monday 2026 is November 30. Argentina's CyberMonday is a separate event, and its Mega Ofertas Top (the headline deals) start on November 2.

What Cyber Monday is

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving, the day U.S. online retailers bunch their discounts at the end of the holiday weekend. Adobe places it at the close of Cyber Week, which it defines as the five-day shopping period from Thanksgiving through Black Friday and Cyber Monday1. In its December 2, 2025 release, Adobe calls Cyber Monday the biggest online shopping day of all time.

But the NRF, which counts people instead of dollars, describes it as the second most popular day for online shopping4. Both claims can hold at once because Adobe adds up spending and the NRF counts shoppers. The NRF figures cited here don't say which day ranks first.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

The U.S. date comes from the calendar: Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, which puts Cyber Monday on November 30 and Cyber Week from November 26 to November 30.

Outside the U.S., other countries borrow the name for events of their own, on their own dates. Argentina's CyberMonday, an online sales event, opens its Mega Ofertas Top at midnight on November 2, 2026, according to the event's official site7. Chile's CyberMonday 2026 has already happened: it ran from 00:00 on Monday, October 5, to 23:59 on Wednesday, October 7, according to 24horas.cl8.

Sales figures for those events aren't in the sources listed here.

How Cyber Monday sales are measured

The spending figures come from Adobe Analytics. For its holiday season report it covers over 1 trillion visits to U.S. retail sites, 100 million SKUs and 18 product categories1. These are company figures, published as press releases, and they cover online purchases recorded on retailers' sites.

Adobe also ran a survey of over 1,000 U.S. consumers in November 2025.

The NRF works from a survey. Its Thanksgiving weekend report is produced with Prosper Insights & Analytics, and the 2025 edition surveyed 3,099 adult consumers from November 26 to November 30, 20254. So the two sources answer different questions: Adobe tells you how much was spent, the NRF tells you how many people shopped.

Example: how much of Cyber Week falls on the Monday

Example with Adobe's 2025 data: Cyber Monday's $14.25 billion divided by Cyber Week's $44.2 billion gives 32.2%. One day out of five took nearly a third of the week's online spending.

Cyber Monday sales by year

Adobe's last three Cyber Monday releases give a consistent series for the day, the week and some payment methods123.

Figures in parentheses are year-over-year changes as Adobe publishes them. Adobe's releases, as quoted here, don't attribute the growth to any cause. For the season as a whole, Adobe counted $137.4 billion spent online from November 1 through December 1, 2025, up 7.2%.

What the NRF counted over the 2025 weekend

  • A record 202.9 million consumers shopped from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday, up from 197 million in 2024.
  • 134.9 million people shopped online over those five days, up 9% from 124.3 million.
  • Cyber Monday alone drew 75.9 million online shoppers, compared with 64.4 million in 2024 (a 17.9% increase, calculated from those figures).
  • 46.9 million shopped online from a mobile device that Monday, up from 40.4 million a year earlier.
  • Holiday shoppers spent $337.86 on average over the weekend on gifts, holiday apparel, decorations and other seasonal items.

What changed in recent editions

The phone became the main checkout

In the 2019 season, only 33% of Cyber Monday online sales came through a mobile device, according to Adobe2. The share was 41.4% in 2020, 57% in 2024 and 57.5% in 2025. From 2019 to 2024 it rose 24 percentage points.

Buy now, pay later

BNPL drove $1.03 billion in online spending on Cyber Monday 2025, or 7.2% of the day's total. And 79.4% of those BNPL transactions happened on mobile rather than desktop1.

Categories, hours and channels

Three categories (electronics, apparel and furniture) accounted for 57% of Cyber Monday 2025 online spending. Electronics alone took in $3.7 billion, up 12.8% from 2024, with discounts peaking at 31% off listed price. From 8 to 10 pm, consumers spent $16 million every minute1 (the release doesn't say what share of the day that window took).

Social media drove 3.6% of Cyber Monday online revenue in 2025. In 2024, affiliates and partners, influencers included, reached 20.3%2 (different years and different channels, so resist putting them in one column). Traffic from generative AI tools to U.S. retail sites, measured by shoppers clicking a link, rose 670% on Cyber Monday 2025, according to Adobe.

Prices matter too. The Adobe Digital Price Index, which tracks online prices across 18 product categories and complements the BLS consumer price index, showed e-commerce prices falling for 26 consecutive months through October 2024, when they were down 2.9% year over year2.

Cyber Monday against a full year of e-commerce

Is $14.25 billion a lot for a single day? The official benchmark is the Census Bureau, which estimates U.S. retail e-commerce sales at $340.2 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 3.8% from the first quarter and 12.2% (±0.9%) from the second quarter of 2025, equal to 17.1% of total retail sales5.

Second quarterE-commerce sales ($ millions)Share of total retail sales
2021236,01014.6%
2022247,96714.2%
2023269,73815.3%
2024288,82216.1%
2025 (revised)303,28416.3%
2026 (preliminary)340,24417.1%

From the second quarter of 2022 to the second quarter of 2026, the series rose 37.2%. The estimates are adjusted for seasonal variation but not for price changes, and since the April 2025 benchmark report they include only businesses with paid employees6.

Common mix-ups

  • Cyber Monday and Black Friday. They are two different days in the same week. In 2025, Black Friday brought in $11.8 billion online and Cyber Monday $14.25 billion, according to Adobe.
  • Cyber Monday and Cyber Week. Cyber Week is the five days from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday: $44.2 billion online in 2025.
  • The U.S. Cyber Monday and Argentina's CyberMonday. They share a name and little else. The U.S. one is the Monday after Thanksgiving; the Argentine one opens its Mega Ofertas Top on November 2, 2026.
  • Adobe's number and the Census Bureau's. Adobe measures online spending it records on retail sites. The Census Bureau publishes official estimates by quarter, not by day.

The next Census Bureau report, for the third quarter of 2026, comes out on November 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern: eleven days before Cyber Monday, and with no data from that week.
